Hebrews 12: 3-4
“Consider Him who endured from sininers such hostility againslt Himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.”
As Christians, we are not promsied an easy life, infact, we are promised the opposite: “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Tim. 3:12 ESV) But through the trials and persecutions that will come in all Christin lives, we can look to the example that Christ set while He was enduring hostility and hard times. When we look to His example, we are empowered to live after the model He set for us.
But what Christ went through when He came to earth was more than any test we will ever face. In our struggle against sin, we have not yet resisted to the point of shedding our blood, but He did. Not only can we look and see His response to persecutions that align to ours, but we can see His response to tests much more difficult than ours.
It is when we realize that Christ overcame every trial that came His way, and that He lives inside of us, that we can truly have victory against struggles in our lives. If Jesus really lives in us, then we have the power to overcome every trial as did He. For where our strength is lacking, His is more than enough. So let us not grow weary or faint of heart. Instead, let us look to Him who endured such hostility and take comfort that we can do the same.
